Summer “fashion”

I have received yesterday my Varca sandals. I had similar sandals years ago after a trip to spain and had to let them go after years of good services. I remember them being confortable, versatile… I was not able to find them again around where I live but was not really investigating to find similar ones. I discovered Varca in Country Living and was thrilled to see “my sandals” were available for on-line shopping. I like their simple design, the (light, very light) weight and more over, the fact that the sandals are still crafted in Menorca within a small business. Prices are attractive (35 pounds) and Varca deliver world wide.
Did you get new sandals this summer?

Are you in “Rude Health”?

hiding cowEarlier this week, I was asking you if you were in rude health?
You will certainly answer me: “What does it mean being in rude health“?
So, taken directly from them, here is the definition:
“you’re in rude health when: you’re siniging in the rain. You put little wheelies when you cycle to work. You go skinnydipping. You slide down banisters. You beg the dog to take you for a walk.”
If you think you’re not in rude health, then you’d better consider having a breakfast that will help you being in rude health.
I will advise you to try first with their Ultimate Organic Museli, made with 23 ingredients, all organic! They advertise it with saying that most of others museli are only made 12 ingredients and you know what? I have counted the ingredients on many museli packets and the biggest figure I found out was 15!!! Again taken from their packet:

Thoughts about 23…
Each parents contributes 23 chromosomes to the DNA of a child
It takes 23 seconds for the blood to circulate throughout the body
The Knights Templar had 23 Grand Masters
There are 23 letters in the Latin Alphabet

On their package you could also read the following comments:
Why ORGANIC
Perhaps that’s the wrong question. Perhaps the real question is why use ingredients with risks of residutes from fungicides and pesticides? Why use ingredients that aren’t guaranteed to be non-GM? Why eat food with unnecessary additives such as artificial preservatives and colours?

Why use fruit or grains farmed in ways that harm the environment when organic farmers encourage biodiversity and create a sustainable balance with nature? We think that food made following organic principles is better for us and better for the environment, full stop.

Rude Health have a full range of cereals for breakfast going from the ultimate organic museli, to porridge, simple flakes puffs ( I strongly recommand to test the rice puff, you will never ever eat any other rice puff after that). Why are their rice puff different? Because most breakfast cereals are made by mushing the grains and then moudling the pulp into puff shapes - this way, you lose lots of the naturally occuring nutrients and flavour.

Rude Health breakfast cereals can be ordered on their internet web site and they deliver wold wide with reasonnable delivery fees. For information all their products are blended in UK and all the ingredients they used are aganically grown! So treat yourself like a king and have a decent breakfast!

Of course, you are welcome to contact me for any questions and next week I will give you more information about finding great organic skin/body care products!

By that time, I hope you will still enjoy your “regular” breakfast…

About organic/natural skin/body care

Last week I was supposed to tell you about where to find natural/organic skin/body care as well as household products with attractive prices around Luxembourg… Well I was off a few days and spend them in London… so I could not write… but here am I.

In this post I will talk about DM shops in Germany. DM stands for Drogeriemarkt and you can find shops all over Germany. Their main area is NOT organic/natural product but body/skin care products as well as household products. BUT they have a great range of organic/natural products with a price range going from 25% to 40% less than what you could find in Luxembourg or close area. You will find in DM the Weleda range (skincare, bodycare, haircare), a great part of the Lavera range and some of the SANTE range for the body/skin/haire care. They also have their own brand called alverde with bodycare, skincare, haircare and make-up available. The alverde brand is a natural/organic brand without parabens and other nice chemicals. Price range for all those products are attractive. You can also find organic cotton pads under the brand “Ebelin”/Nature with a greeny packaging.
Regarding the household products, you will find a great range of the Froggy/Frosch products.
You will also find in DM some organic food, they have a range called “Alnatura”. They provide you with basic products such as pastas, quinoa and other cereals but also sauces, soups, juices, chocolates, snacks, teas, herbal teas to name a few…. Again all this at attractive prices. You will find also the complete range of Hipp products (food for babies) still at prices more attractive than our well-known local supermarkets.
Last but not least they have a range of organic clothing named Alana. The clothes are more for baby covering underwears, cardigans and pyjamas but if you are lucky you could find some underwears for children up to 6 years.

The closest DM I know is the one in Perl but there are many of them in Trier if you go there from time to time. Do not hesitate to have a look on their website (in German, you have been warned) to find the closest DM for you…
And as always, do not hesitate to get in touch with me should you wich more info.

Next post (later this week) I will ask you if you are in rude health??? Want to know more, well just follow me!

Being green or just less self-concentrate (would it mean “open”?)

Coming back to my “being a good greenie” post, here are some more thoughts.
My life is a bit harder, but I feel better when I go shopping and care about what I am buying.
When I see clothes, shoes or accessories I love, I always try to get information about where it was manufactured. If the seller is unable to provide those information, I do not buy.
Living in Europe, I try to buy as much as possible things that are crafted in Europe or things that I know have been manufactured by adults well considered. My friends always argue saying that it is more expensive that products manufactured in China for example. Yes but I would not agree working for 1 Euros or 1 dollar an hour so, how could I expect someone crafting clothes, shoes or purses working for that price?!
I am trying to buy less, but quality that last. It is not an easy excercise as today wearing some particular brands is also a way to feel belonging to a particular group. One brand is cool, one is hype, the other is cheap…. trying to step back from all these images requires a lot of  “don’t care about”… It means that we have to wish not havin a lot, having for ourselves but also considering much more that just a buy, considering the impact that our buy has on other lives… Many brands have been created in the last decades only to sell products, but they do not bring anything new…
Here are things I like very much, some were discovered long time ago, some others very recently, some are very well known, others less.
